VLOQUALITY by Valerie Lo
Hi! I'm Val. I'm a 22 year-old self-taught photographer and videographer. I'm from the Greater Seattle Area, more up north close to Lynnwood actually. I do a whole bunch of things such as events, shows, graduation, prom, maternity, family, weddings, promotions, etc. I haven't quite found my niche yet, just because I love having the flexibility of being able to do different things every time.
I started photography/videography back in 2017 because I was interested in it in high school. I didn't have the luxury of owning a family camera or having the nicest phone on the market but because I was so passionate about it, I did what I could. I would attend my school's photography club just to borrow DSLR's and practice using it after school. Eventually, I was given the opportunity to use a professionally graded camera, just to try it out. The person that lended it to me trusted that I would make good use of it for its time. I would go on YouTube just to learn how to use Adobe so that I could edit my photos/videos properly. I would take my friends' senior pictures for free because I never thought I was that good. But soon, I knew I found my calling.
Getting out of high school, I bought my own camera and decided this is the dream I am going to chase for the rest of my life. I quit my day job at the time and solely relied on practicing and networking to get my business going. College has taught me so many things about meeting different people, having so much competition, being drained from social media, and failing. But no matter what I was resilient and kept trying because there was just something about having that creative vision and bringing it to life.
